# Cheerful, positive, and diligent. Monica strives to be the best person she could be no matter how tough things get, living life to the fullest, and always eager to bring others up. She's a kind and loyal friend, Monica is empathic and especially loving to those she is close to.
# Although her desire to be a hero is fueled by her wish to be recognized and admired for her deeds, strength, and bravery, it is really born from her wish to help others. Monica wants to make the world a better place and give people hope more than anything.
# Adventurous, creative, and has big dreams. Monica sees the world in an idealistic, half-full view almost to the point of naivety, but this makes her difficult to corrupt and makes it easier for her to find courage in situations where hope seems dim. She's capable of great feats of selflessness, willing to make great sacrifice for the sake of others.
# Though often stereotyped to be a shallow party girl or a naive millennial at first glance by those who don't know her very well, Monica is far from it. She is a fairly shy social butterfly; she enjoys knowing people on a deeper level and always look past stereotypes. She has an interest in unconventional things, such as myths and lore from different cultures or fictional settings, and has an obsession over TV shows, movies, and comic books that she grew to love as a child thanks to her step-sister's influence. She grew to love these fictional mediums as a way to bond with her step-sister, and uses it for escapism during the times she was picked on by her classmates in their youth.
# Easily excited by cool things to the point she can be called "fangirly" when it comes to other superheroes of her world. Monica can run her mouth rambling about things she likes. She earned her nickname of "Bear" due to her love for honey-flavored sweets and her tendency to sleep for more than 8 hours, especially in cold climates. Her friends sometimes call her "Mon-Mon" or "Nic-Nic" due to her repetitive name, much to her dismay.
# Initially a little immature and overly excitable with her new powers, Monica was quick to mature when she realizes the gravity of the responsibility attached to her gifts, along with realizing just how dangerous the world can get where there is no room for irresponsibility.
-
# Monica is pretty emotionally weak with moments of low self-confidence. While her empathy for others is a strength, it also makes her emotionally sensitive to negativity. She is easily driven away by negative thoughts and people, feeding to her escapist habits. On the surface, she's easily moved by stories and is quick to shed tears over things. Initially, she was visibly stressed by the pressure and responsibilities of being a superhero when the harsh realities of it made it apparent to her. She was more dependent on the help and company of others and thought she couldn't do anything on her own, or without her smartphone - the source of her magical power. She eventually becomes a stronger person throughout the course of her story, more than capable of holding her own and becoming a type of hero that she's always wanted to be
# Has developed a survivor's guilt complex, blaming herself for failures that involve her and always wondering if she had been stronger and better.
# Always striving to make herself look strong and unfazed by the stress that life throws at her, Monica had lied to herself enough that she finds it difficult to open up about her fears and insecurities, often taking some persuasion from trusted friends for her to even reveal what she feels. This habit of keeping negative things bottled up inside often leads to emotional crashes, where she feels depressed for days or weeks.
# She feels stuck in an unfulfilling life and has a tendency to be jealous when she compares herself to others on the subject of their careers and happiness with their lives. People who seem to already have their lives figured out, or does not have to worry too much about their future. Whether it's something that resulted from their hard work, or a characteristic/possession that she doesn't have, this feeds into Monica's struggle to find a purpose in life and an identity of her own.
# Monica is aware of her good looks, and is proud of them to the point of being a little vain at times, though past experiences have made her wary and skeptical when other people show interest in pursuing her. She feels a disdain for anybody who only wish to pursue her for shallow goals such as making her their girlfriend, or admires her only because they find her attractive. While she wants to be admired; she wants so for her deeds, achievements, and character.

First Impressions:

# Visual: Monica is a short and curvy young woman with fair skin that she regularly maintains for her modeling job. Always seen with a sunny, sweet disposition and is inseparable from her smartphone, a Qosmos i8. She loves pastel-colored fashions, and often prefers loose and light casual attire that are easy to move in. Namely short-shorts and skirts, paired with shoes that don't have high heels. She has an affection for knit sweaters and cardigans for cold weather climates, having been used to wearing them in her youth in Canada. Other than her rose colored hair and eyes, Monica has no distinguishing features.
# Aural: Monica has an average sounding but energetic voice with a standard accent despite knowing French as a first language. She is known to be a pretty bad singer. She is fluent in English and French, and is learning a bit of Japanese.
# Olfactory: Monica often wears her favorite perfume with hints of floral peony and tuberose blend with crisp citrus notes of grapefruit and neroli anchored by earthy vetiver. Or after her shift at the pub, Monica tends to smell of beer.
# Demeanor: Always in high spirits and the brightest of smiles, Monica exudes a positive aura that her friends often find themselves gravitated by. Soft and relaxed, Monica walks in small and leisurely strides.

# Qosmos i8: The latest in Majestiq Industries' electronics line of smartphones. Her personal Qosmos phone transformed into an enchanted version of itself, and is Monica's source of supernatural ability along with an app that allows her to choose her abilities on the fly, provided the phone has battery and within a 40 feet radius of her. The app acts like a video game, giving Monica some starter skills and physical stats that she can increase with points earned from experience in objectives and missions given to her by the app. The app grants her the basic package of superhuman stats (strength, agility, endurance, speed, magic resistance etc.), along with an arsenal of offensive, defensive, and supportive spells. Fighting like an archetypal "mage", Monica's physical stats are still quite low by superhuman standards, leaving her fighting from a distance and weak in close-combat situations. Specific spells that Monica has are:
Energy Projection: Her most basic spell, which uses hyperdimensional energies summoned through a magic circle on her palms for offensive purposes such as blasts, or for defensive purposes such as shields. She later learns to create an energy sword and shield as her preferred weapons for close-combat, learning to use them effectively under Ayame's guidance.
Magical Healing and Enhancement: Healing wounds and injuries, along with temporarily enhancing herself or others' physical and magical powers. Monica can only heal people or injuries within her camera's line of sight, by taking a photo with the app and pressing the "Like" button.
Portal Creation and Mapping: Monica is able to create portals or get directions to certain places she's been to in the past, recorded into the app's log, or new locations the app tells her to go to. She can create a portal to person's current location as long as they are listed in her contact list (unless this person does not want to see her, then the portal wouldn't open)
Magic and Danger Detection: Using her phone's camera function, the app can detect magic within the camera's line of sight. This involves being able to tell of an entity is human or not. The phone alerts Monica of impending danger with the phone's ringtone or vibrate function as if she's receiving a text message.
Magic Communication/Telepathy: Allows Monica to speak to people, but is limited to her contacts/friends list whether by phone call or chat (the typed words would be heard by the other person in their head in Monica's voice, with emoticons being named. Ex: "Nice day today, huh? Smiley Face".
Phone Summoning: Monica shares a magical bond with her phone, able to summon it to her hand should she not have it with her.
Energy Mech: Conjured up to compensate her lack of close-combat prowess, Monica can create an exoskeleton body armor of pure magical energy that boosts her physical status greatly, even allowing her to fly. Monica can alter the size and shape of this exoskeleton, from the size slightly larger than a human (8 ft. tall), to the size of a house (40 ft. tall). Though this is particularly taxing to her, leaving her feeling groggy and exhausted afterwards, especially if she uses a larger form.
Backstory:
A cheerful and positive young woman with a determined can-do attitude and seemingly no direction in life due to her many dreams. After dropping out of college, Monica found jobs in different places that she never stays in for long, except for occasionally modeling and bartending at a friend's pub, leaving her perpetually broke. Monica made a gamble and moved to the United States from Canada to live her own life alongside her step-sister Roxanne (

Apart from her fantasies of being a powerful hero, Monica was unaware of meeting an actual superpowered person through the internet. At the time, she planned on making a video resume to pursue an acting career. There, Monica has met a man named Shoji Nakamori (

Force fields, shooting beams of energy from her hands, and other magical abilities she only thought existed in her fiction... they were all just a push on a touchscreen away for her to access, and would last as long as her phone has battery. Beyond thrilled, confused, and troubled, Monica was desperate to seek out the source of this mysterious app while she learns to master her new powers, becoming a neighborhood hero in Los Angeles. Though prior to downloading the app, she has mentioned the name of this game to her online friend Shoji, who found clues to it's existence in Japan, pointing to a deeper mystery spanning two countries and of a nameless online entity calling itself the "Grey Man" who they thought was eliminated. With the help of his ally Mariko Ishiwatari (
